All Woke Up: Beyond parody

How do you mock a painfully Woke movement that lacks any sense of self awareness?

Andrew Doyle does so regularly with his hilarious parody Twitter account, Titania McGrath. But it isn’t easy.

Doyle describes Titania as an “Activist. Healer. Radical intersectionalist poet. Nonwhite. Ecosexual.” Titania’s Pronouns? Variable. Apparently, he/she/they/them/other is “Selfless and brave.”

Are You Woke enough? Titania will tell you. The answer, by the way, is no, you are not Woke enough.

In one tweet, Titania offers some unsolicited advice to transphobic dog owners.

“Stop saying ‘good boy’ and ‘good girl’ to your pets. This kind of gendered language is normalising the myth of canine dimorphism, and delegitimises the lived experience of transdogs.”

Here’s some more lunacy.

It’s funny stuff. The problem is, it’s no match for the real Woke warriors who actually pump out this kind of crap.

The painfully Woke have moved beyond parody.

The paradox of parody is that real life sometimes parodizes itself. It’s like seeing a mirror reflected in a distorted mirror – if you say Tony Evers is a parody of a governor, it’s reality, thus ironic, not paradoxic.

This is a hilarious idea. The funniest part is that the “woke” folks out there will be discussing and agreeing with the Tweets while sipping their vegan soy milk half caff at the coffee house/poetry reading.
