For most, 1+1 = 2.
For the painfully Woke, math = white supremacy.
As Fox News reports, California’s education department is considering implementing a framework that promotes controversial ideas about race and mathematics.
The “Pathway to Equitable Math Instruction” advises, among other things, that the focus on finding the right answer is an example of white supremacy.
“The concept of mathematics being purely objective is unequivocally false, and teaching it is even much less so,” a document for the “Equitable Math” toolkit reads. “Upholding the idea that there are always right and wrong answers perpetuate objectivity as well as fear of open conflict.”
That’s the Woke: No right or wrong answers, even in math. The only wrong answers, according to the left, are answers from the right — or anything involving reason, really.
This all would be less tragic if California schools weren’t consistently performing below average on academic measures.
“We ask that the state provide us with a mathematics framework that reflects sound, research-based practices over political ideology,” Educators for Quality and Equality co-founder Lori Meyers told Fox News.
The proposed framework’s section on “Equitable math” touts “cultural relevance” as “important for learning and also for expanding a collective sense of what mathematical communities look and sound like to reflect California’s diverse history. A focus on equity recognizes that mathematics, over the years, has developed in a way that has excluded many students.”
More nonsense from Woke educrats that just doesn’t add up.
