So, this is where we are in Woke Land: Minneapolis Public Schools — in the name of social justice? Equity? — has inked a labor contract with the teachers union to fire white teachers first in the event of layoffs, regardless of seniority.
Why, that sounds .. discriminatory.
Well, it’s not, according to the public school loons who put together the deal that ended a two-week strike earlier this year.
It’s equity.
The contract provision is designed to protect “underrepresented” populations from layoffs and is designed “to remedy the continuing effects of past discrimination,” a district spokesperson said.
Oh, yes. That’s equity. Mending past acts of discrimination by discriminating in the present and future. You’ll find that under the Eye for an Eye clause.
It’s also wildly unconstitutional.
“The Supreme Court has been crystal clear, public schools cannot terminate teachers based on their skin color,” Kimberly Hermann, general counsel for the Southeastern Legal Foundation told Fox News Digital. “The contract between Minneapolis Public Schools and the local teachers union (aka K-12 cartel) is unconstitutional, illegal and sets our country back decades in race relations.”
Helen Rella, a trial lawyer at the New York firm Wilk Auslander, told Fox News Digital that “two wrongs don’t make a right.”
Ms. Rella must not be in touch with the curriculum going on inside Minneapolis’ public schools, and schools all across Wisconsin and the U.S. So-called anti-racism, critical race theory and other radical, race-based dogma that very much teaches that a wrong perpetrated in the name of this twisted form of social justice does indeed make a right.
Just ask the left’s anti-racist yogi, Ibram X. Kendi.
“The only remedy to racist discrimination is antiracist discrimination. The only remedy to past discrimination is present discrimination. The only remedy to present discrimination is future discrimination,” Kendi declares in his racist book, “How to Be an Antiracist” — spoon-fed to children across this country.
The Daily Signal’s Douglas Blair writes:
Outside of being morally despicable to treat white people differently due to their race, there is an unintended consequence here that the radical left clearly isn’t thinking of.
History demonstrates that forcing a group to focus explicitly on race as a unifying factor is a recipe for disaster. The Black Panthers and Ku Klux Klan are great examples of why bringing people together simply based on skin tone is a terrible idea.
But that’s exactly where this obsession with categorizing people based on race will lead. And worse still, this anti-racism philosophy paints people as demons or victims based on skin color.
That’s precisely the brave new world of the painfully woke.
