All Woke Up: Hollywood’s Woke rules

Empower Wisconsin | Sept 14, 2020

Hypocritical Hollywood has long been a suck hole of wokeness and double standards.

The industry that launched the #MeToo movement created many of the most high-profile sexual assault and misconduct victims.

Now the people who annually bring the world the insufferably self-righteous Academy Awards are rolling out new inclusion standards. Those who hope to win a best picture Oscar must meet two of the four diversity mandates.

Conservative film critic Christian Toto says the new rules come with a “diversity quotient” of actors on screen, as well as themes the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences deems representative enough.

As Toto notes, to meet the “On-Screen Representation” quota, a film must have “at least one of the lead actors or significant supporting actors … from an underrepresented racial or ethnic group.”

  • Asian
  • Hispanic/Latino
  • Black/African American
  • Indigenous/Native American/Alaskan Native
  • Middle Eastern/North African
  • Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander
  • Other underrepresented race or ethnicity

“The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences just created a nightmarish maze impacting any production seeking Oscar glory,” Toto wrote.

Ultimately, Toto tells Empower Wisconsin, the Academy’s new standards will suck the art out of movie-making, and either filmmakers will bow to the politically correct pressure or they’ll abandon the pursuit of an Oscar altogether.
