Let’s just say American morality is experiencing some growing pains.
In woke library land, drag queen story hours are good, faith-based readings are bad.
Actor Kirk Cameron this week told Tucker Carlson that more than 50 libraries across the country have rejected his attempts to read his faith-based book, “As You Grow,” to children. Many of the libraries that passed on Cameron’s book — which teaches “biblical wisdom through the seasons of life to children and the value of growing the fruit of the spirit, like love, joy, kindness, patience, gentleness, self-control” — prefer tapping drag queens to read to kindergarteners.
The “Growing Pains” star told the Fox News host a library in Alameda County, Calif., rejected a solicitation while instead continuing to schedule what he characterized as a “gender name-change clinic” later in the week.
Cameron said a Providence, R.I., library rejected another offer, with a worker telling publisher Brave Books they are a “very queer-friendly library; our messaging does not align.”
So much for diversity and inclusion from the tolerant left.
Public libraries in Milwaukee, Madison, and elsewhere in Wisconsin have sponsored Drag Queen Story Hour events, generally featuring men — even boys — dressed as women — reading LGBTQ+-themed books to children.
Created in San Francisco, the liberal initiative celebrates drag “as an artistic way of expressing yourself and showing the world different parts of who you are and who you want to be.”
Cameron said Christians must band together and stand up against the secularization of society, where they are often “told ‘no’ in the public square.”
“We go home with our tail between our legs, crying in our Chick-fil-A soup, waiting for the rapture, rather than getting on the offense and saying, ‘Let’s invest in our children and teach them the values we want them to learn.’”
But if Cameron wants to read his faith-based book at a woke library these days, he’ll have to do it as Maggie Seaver in a 1980s shoulder pad dress, loud lipstick, and pumps.
