The dangerously Woke have hit college campuses with a vengeance this year, with a growing movement to defund or eliminate campus police.
In a wave of anti-police sentiment following the George Floyd protests, student activists at more than 40 colleges and universities have demanded that campus police be disarmed, disbanded or defunded, according to a College Fix analysis.
According to the publication:
The campuses represented in The College Fix survey run the gamut, from Ivy League institutions to large public state schools to private liberal arts colleges.
In several cases in these recent instances, democratic socialist clubs teamed up with Black Lives Matter campus activists and other groups representing marginalized communities to lodge the demands against university police.
These actions from students and faculty alike are motivated by the belief that policing is one of many systemic tools used by oppressors, activists say.
On the list, leftist Marquette University students in Milwaukee.
“This summer made it pretty clear that police violence is a very big issue, and intrinsically related to the way we deal with race on campus,” Sarah Kizuk, a member of the Marquette Academic Workers Union and doctoral candidate in philosophy, told the Marquette Wire.
At the University of Wisconsin-Madison, far left students have not only demanded administrators “defund and subsequently abolish the University of Wisconsin Police Department,” they want to tear down a century-old statue of the Great Emancipator, Abraham Lincoln.
It’s interesting that such demands are coming from what are supposed to be centers of knowledge. The painfully Woke, of course, have learned nothing from places like Minneapolis, where, following calls to defund the police department, violent crime has soared as cops retire or leave the department in droves.
