All Woke Up: Separate but equitable

The Woke love to characterize their enemies as purveyors of “Jim Crow”  laws, even as they feverishly work to divide and separate Americans.

And separate but equal comes home to roost again in Madison — this time at Wisconsin’s flagship university.

UW-Madison has hired nine new mental health providers, three of whom “will exclusively serve students of color, joining eight providers already in this role,” campus officials recently announced.

As The College Fix reports, the hires were made in “response to a need to improve access to mental health services.”

Campus spokeswoman Meredith McGlone told The College Fix via email that research shows “clients are more satisfied with counseling when it is provided by a counselor who is culturally responsive.”

A campus statement noted that in “addition to increasing access to services, the new providers will enhance programming across campus aimed to support (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) BIPOC-identified students.”

Of the remaining new hires, four “will serve as generalists which are counselors who see clients with a wide range of concerns rather than a specific population.”

Segregation policies are all the rage in Madison, one of the wokest cities in the nation.

Madison West High School got into some trouble earlier this year when administrators sent out an email inviting high school families to discuss “all the police brutality and violence that is going on.” The email provided two different Zoom links; one for parents of color, the other for white parents.

In the summer of 2020, Madison West hosted “virtual discussion spaces” for students and staff to “process the pain our community is feeling at this present moment” and “work towards being an anti-racist community.” The email, sent out amid racial tensions in Madison and nationwide, provided links for two separate Zoom calls — one for white students and one for students of color.

“Please join the Zoom space where you most closely identify,” an email obtained at the time by the Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty (WILL). The purpose of the separate but equal sessions was to “maximize [students’] level of emotional safety and security,” according to the email.

WILL had to remind the school district that such practices violate a lot of well-established law.

“Racial segregation is never beneficial or benign,” said Dan Lennington, WILL deputy counsel.

But the Woke apparently believe segregation is okay as long as it fits into their divisive politics.
