Do you like to deck the house with Christmas lights? That’s racist, according to a Woke Karen who’s trying to kill Christmas in Minnesota.
St. Anthony resident Kim Hunt said she and her family received a preachy, anonymous letter from their neighbor who “couldn’t help but notice” the home’s Christmas light’s display. Snopes reports other St. Anthony homes with exterior illumination received the same letter.
“The idea of twinkling, colorful lights are a reminder of divisions that continue to run through our society, a reminder of systemic biases against our neighbors who don’t celebrate Christmas or who can’t afford to put up lights of their own,” the neighbor wrote.
The unsolicited advice continues, with the nosy neighbor insisting that we all “must do the work of educating ourselves about the harmful impact an outward facing display like yours can have.”
“I challenge you to respect the dignity of all people, while striving to learn from differences, ideas, and opinions of our neighbors,” the letter states. “We must come together collectively and challenge these institutional inequities; St. Anthony is a community welcoming of all people and we must demand better than ourselves.”
That’s how the Minneapolis suburb likes to think of itself, anyway: a community “dedicated to being a progressive and welcoming Village.” Just not to the Christmas light people. They need not apply, according to Woke Karen.
Conservative talk show host Vicki McKenna last week quipped that if she had received an obnoxious letter like this Minnesota family had she would have gone “full-Griswold.”
