By Deborah Jordahl

Top 10 pieces of advice for incoming college freshmen:

  2. Just because you have an opinion doesn’t mean other people need to hear it
  3. Pause before posting
  4. If you’re part of a “mostly peaceful protest,” you’re still part of the problem
  5. You have the right to be offended by what other people say
  6. Other people have the right to say things that offend you
  7. Believe in a power greater than yourself, but not one that burns down buildings or threatens people with baseball bats
  8. Don’t believe everything you think
  9. Use your words, but only if you know what you’re talking about
  10. Always wear clean underwear to a protest in case a historic monument falls on you
