Top 10 pieces of advice for incoming college freshmen:
- Feelings aren’t facts
- Just because you have an opinion doesn’t mean other people need to hear it
- Pause before posting
- If you’re part of a “mostly peaceful protest,” you’re still part of the problem
- You have the right to be offended by what other people say
- Other people have the right to say things that offend you
- Believe in a power greater than yourself, but not one that burns down buildings or threatens people with baseball bats
- Don’t believe everything you think
- Use your words, but only if you know what you’re talking about
- Always wear clean underwear to a protest in case a historic monument falls on you
