All Woke Up: Woke eating the Woke

MADISON — Woke witch hunts can run into trouble when the target turns out to be Woke.

Chippewa Falls Area Unified School District’s had to issue a statement retracting prior public statements after conducting an investigation into a teacher suspected of a “racist outburst.”

Turns out the unidentified teacher was not using “offensive and inappropriate language.” Well, the educator was, but not in a racist way — in an antiracist way.

According to the Chippewa Herald activist group Cultivative Coaltion sprang to the educator’s defense. The group posted on its page a 40-second video clip of the incident in question, and denounced the district’s decision to put the teacher on administrative leave as “performative activism.” It’s an interesting term and an apt descriptor of what schools, corporations and media outlets are doing daily by kowtowing to Woke activists.

“It is very clear in this video that the teacher is using hypotheticals to teach the class the impacts of using racial slurs,” the coalition asserts. “The video itself shows how willing the district was to finally showcase that they had done something by ‘putting the racist on leave’ even though this is not racism. The teacher heard in the video was also the teacher who was let go due to budget cuts. This teacher provided a safe space for disenfranchised students by not being afraid to stick up for those groups while also educating their class.”

According to the newspaper:

(T)he video shows the teacher discussing the n-word with the class during a unit in which they were reading the book “To Kill a Mockingbird.” In the video he is detailing how there is no n-word equivalent which can be said to white individuals, so in order to understand the full meaning behind the n-word they need to work harder to understand the seriousness of it and where it is derived from.

Apparently the district didn’t get that 411 as administrators were escorting the teacher out of the high school and banishing the instructor from the classroom.

Michelle Golden, district director of human resources and public relations, released a statement retracting the school system’s prior public statements. She said the district conducted a thorough investigation and “found  absolutely no evidence of racism by that teacher. The investigation concluded that the teacher made the statements as part of an anti-racism lesson and that the teacher’s students understood this to be the case.”

The district needed to check its diversity and inclusion scorecard. The racism of antiracism — which teaches kids that white people are inherently white supremacists because they have grown up privileged in a systemically racist nation — is the right kind of racism, according to the radical left.

Chippewa Falls has issued its mea culpa.

It’s another case of the painfully Woke eating the errantly Woke.

  • An “insult” is only an insult if the person it’s directed at takes it that way. The three examples cited by Harold go in one ear and out the other with me because I consider the source.

  • I guess that teacher has never heard the word honky, “a derogatory term used by black people for a white person or for white people collectively.” Or the word cracker, “a sharp racial insult that resonates with white southerners”. Or the word whitey, “a contemptuous and derogatory slang term for a white person, often used in a pejorative manner”. Whatever, they’re just words, unless you want to make more of them.
