MADISON — Leftist U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar’s own city has repudiated “The Squad” member’s war on law enforcement. But her good buddy Mandela Barnes, Wisconsin’s far left lieutenant governor and would-be U.S. senator, thinks Omar is “brilliant.”
That’s what Barnes said after popping in to see Omar in August 2019 at Eureka Recycling in Minneapolis.
Barnes was in the area on Aug. 13, visiting a dairy and a pie and general store in western Wisconsin before dropping in on the Twin Cities to check out the Native American Community Development Institute, according to the lieutenant governor’s official calendars obtained by Empower Wisconsin through an open records request.
Later that afternoon, Barnes met with Omar, who was hosting a “round-table discussion with Eureka Recycling and other community leaders, legislators, and organizations who are supportive of the recently introduced Zero Waste Act.” That’s Omar’s “Zero Waste Act,” legislation described as a “key part” of Democrats’ boondoggle “Green New Deal.” The bill would provide up to $250 million in funding for costly “zero waste initiatives.” In short, more expensive recycling and make your own toothpaste kind of stuff.
Following the climate change alarmist roundtable, Barnes tweeted his support for the infamous Squad member. He insisted Omar is “exactly who we need in Congress right now fighting for what’s right.”
“She’s brilliant. She cares about the environment. She’s not a afraid to boomerang. Thank you @IlhanMN and @EurekaMN for a great visit!”,” Barnes tweeted.

By the way, “boomerang” sounds like a reference to the social psychology theory that states ,“attempts to restrict a person’s freedom or change a person’s attitudes often produce a strong opposing response.” It does, and Barnes here appears to be saluting his fellow leftist’s political drive to restrict freedom.
Omar is the same anti-law enforcement zealot who helped lead her painfully Woke city’s efforts to defund the police following the death of George Floyd at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer. She’s the same radical who said ‘we need to completely dismantle the Minneapolis Police Department” while demonizing law enforcement as a “cancer” on society.
Voters in her city, sick and tired of the violent crime that has soared in the wake of such dismantling efforts, just said no to Omar’s defund movement. A ballot measure that would have replaced the Minneapolis Police Department with a kind of social services-focused public safety agency was resoundingly rejected in Tuesday’s election.
It’s no surprise Barnes, a leading candidate in a crowded field of Democrats running for U.S. Senate, believes Omar is “brilliant.” He has, like the congresswoman, vilified law enforcement following high profile officer-involved deaths of people of color.
The company he keeps is an indicator of how this liberal politician has and will continue to govern.
