Barnes to talk ‘systemic racism’ in Portage

MADISON — Can’t get enough of hearing how systemically racist America is? Well, then get ready for a divisive night of politically motivated, racially based recriminations led by that political opportunist himself, Wisconsin Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes.

Barnes is scheduled to hold an “in-person presentation”next month in Portage where he’ll discuss the Evers administration’s “approach to addressing racism and systemic racism.” The event begins at 6 p.m. at Portage’s Pauquette Park Beasley Pavilion.

Barnes’ speech is the “capstone event” to the Portage Public Library’s Community Read 2021. The book du jour, fittingly, is Heather McGhee’s, “The Sum of Us: What Racism Costs Everyone and How We Can Prosper Together.” It’s more of the same leftist critical race theory and antiracism dogma that demands you accept that America is and has always been a land of oppression against people color and that white people are intrinsically racist. It is the stuff of radical political opportunists and race-baiting real estate agents of the Victim State.

And its purveyors are peddling these neo-marxist ideas in every classroom, boardroom and government meeting room in America.

Portage is no exception.

The Columbia County community’s library says it is using McGhee’s “insightful book” in the hopes of increasing “awareness and understanding of systemic racism.”

“Lt. Governor Barnes will give some brief remarks and then will be answering some curated questions about systemic racism that will have been cultivated throughout the course of our Community Read,” the community announcement states.

Rumor had it that Barnes would pocket $500 for his presentation, but a library official said the lieutenant governor is volunteering his time. That’s a limited commodity for Barnes these days as he goes about cutting political ads and putting his fundraising committee together for an expected U.S. Senate run.

  • I think Barnes need to get a reality check. There are all types of discrimination…..and one of them is white racism that I personally experienced. It is sad that I don’t even feel comfortable leaving my full name due to possible retaliation. This is America – Free speech is quickly being robbed from us when we speak against one sided propaganda! Sad!!!

  • Wow ! I wondered just what Barnes does as Lt. Governor. Now I know. He is still “working the race card” because he is ignorant about everything else. This guy and his boss are absolutely the worst gubernatorial administration in the history of Wisconsin and we have had a few real stinkers. Quid pro quo JimDoyle immediately comes to mind as the most recent scoundrel.
