This isn’t William Barr’s first rodeo.
The U.S. Attorney General held the same post nearly 30 years ago in President George H.W. Bush’s administration.
In an interview with Fox News’ Mark Levin over the weekend, Barr said partisan politics was tough enough in the early 1990s, but it pales in comparison to the hatred and vitriol coming out of the American left today.
The left, Barr says, has given up on the classical liberal values at the core of the United States. Instead, it has become a “Rousseauian Revolutionary Party” that believes in “tearing down the system.” It is no longer interested in the marketplace of ideas or even the ballot box as ultimate arbiter. The left is in it for “complete political victory,” Barr told Levin, and their lust for victory is their “secular religion.”
“They view their opponents as evil because we stand in the way of the ‘progressive utopia’ they’re trying to reach,” Barr said.
