The week began as it ended, with looting, violence, and destruction wrecking the nation’s largest cities — amid peaceful demonstrations against police brutality.
In Washington, D.C. Sunday evening, police fired tear gas stun grenades into a crowd of more than 1,000 people after protests descended into destruction. Rioters burned a building that houses public bathrooms in Lafayette Park, across the street from the White House, as vandals painted their hatred for police officers and President Trump.
