Kind caves on impeachment

Empower Wisconsin | Oct. 21, 2019

MADISON — Seems the 3rd Congressional District’s milk toast congressman, Ron Kind, has summoned enough courage to join his fellow Democrat’s impeachment dog and pony show.

Kind (D-La Crosse), perhaps getting the go-ahead from his polling team, broke his mealy-mouthed silence last week in declaring he now backs the impeachment inquiry into President Trump.

On Thursday, Kind told Wisconsin Public Radio that he was “raised to believe” that no one “is above the law.” Except Hillary and Joe and Hunter and Comey and Strzok, of course.

Kind isn’t sold on impeachment and removal just yet. The congressman said such constitutional remedies should be considered as a “last resort.”

The moderate left-winger is right to be cautious.

Impeaching is thought pretty cool among many of the Democratic kids in the House. But they live in safe liberal districts.

Kind represents a congressional district that in the main voted for and continues to support Donald Trump. The 3rd is definitely a purplish red, but red nonetheless, and Kind has much to lose by sounding as aggressive as the rest.

He’s playing politics, as he has always done.

Today, Ron Kind is playing the part of Empower Wisconsin’s Tool of the Week.
