MADISON — The Democratic National Committee gave Gov. Tony Evers 60 seconds to speak Wednesday night and he filled it with flotsam, including his doofus in a suit call to action.
“Holy mackerel, folks. Let’s get to work,” said the governor of the state that is hosting whatever is left of the nearly all-virtual Democratic Party Convention. Apparently his handlers thought the folksy schtick he employs in Wisconsin would sell to a nationwide audience. Maybe they were looking to focus group the worst hashtag of the dreadful convention.
Evers’ job, apparently, was to talk up the top of the ticket, Dem presidential nominee Joe Biden and would-be VP Kamala Harris.
“So even though we can’t be with each other, I know we have a shared sense of purpose, that is to elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris,” Evers said. “This November is about returning kindness, respect, empathy, civility back to the White House, and that’s who Joe and Kamala are…”
Really? Has Evers ever met Joe and Kamala?
While campaigning against Biden for the party’s presidential nomination, newly anointed VP nominee Harris said of handsy Joe’s accusers, “I believe them, and I respect them being able to tell their story and having the courage to do it.”
Now? Well, not so much.
“Don’t expect her to maintain that stance. Undoubtedly, Harris also will be Biden’s attack dog if the sexual assault allegations made by Tara Reade resurface,” writes Victor Joecks of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Biden, who has raged against reporters, voters, anyone asking a question he doesn’t like, recently took out his wrath on a journalist who asked the presidential nominee whether he’d take a cognitive test.
“No I haven’t taken a test. Why the hell would I take a test? C’mon man,” he snapped at interviewer Errol Barnett of CBS News.
“That’s like saying, ‘You—before you got on this program did you take a test whether you’re taking cocaine or not, what do you think? Huh? Are you a junkie?’”
As a prosecutor, Harris blocked evidence that would have freed an innocent man from death row before courts intervened and forced her to do so, as former Dem presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard said during a crucial debate.
“I’m deeply concerned about this record. There are too many examples to cite, but (Harris) put over 1,500 people in jail for marijuana violations and then laughed about it when she was asked if she ever smoked marijuana,” Gabbard said.
Evers, of course, has his own shortcomings. The governor calling for kindness and civility in Wisconsin politics is the same spiteful politician who called Republican lawmakers “bastards,” and accused them of being “amoral and stupid.”
Holy mackerel, folks. What a bunch of hypocrites populate the Democratic Party.
