Leave it to Evers: Tony regrets not being able to lock you down

Gov. Tony Evers in recent days has reminded us how much he fancies lockdowns and mask mandates, and that he’d be rolling out the restrictive measures right now if only that meddling Wisconsin Supreme Court hadn’t stopped him.

With Wisconsin’s COVID-19 cases rising amid the spread of the omicron variant, Evers lamented that he can’t issue emergency declarations and state-wide orders, including mask mandates and capacity limits on businesses.

“I’d love to be able to think through what we could do that might be around mitigation, but the fact of the matter is, Republicans and the state Supreme Court have limited that,” Evers said in an interview with Wisconsin Public Radio.

In Tony speak, “Oh, golly, folks! You can bet your sweet bippy I’d be locking you down today if I could.”

The Wisconsin Supreme Court in May 2020 ended the Evers administration’s extended stay-at-home order in a ruling that found the executive branch had way overstepped its authority. The same happened less than a year later, when the court struck down Evers’ never-ending mask mandates. Evers tried to cap customer numbers at restaurants, stores and other businesses. He was stopped there, too.

With his hands tied — by the law — Evers told WPR he will focus on how best to spend the billions of dollars in federal COVID-19 aid he has near unilateral control over. The $5.5 billion has turned into a massive campaign slush fund for Evers to use in rewarding constituencies he desperately needs to vote for him if he has any chance at a second term.

  • The citizens of Wisconsin should thank their lucky stars every single day since our Supreme Court threw down the gauntlet and emasculated Tony The Tyrant. Lockdowns, endless mask mandates, and now we’ve come to learn vaccinations, do little to “slow the spread” or “flatten the curve”. Thank heavens Wisconsin did not become another California or Illinois, and thank heavens vaccine passports and business mandates will NEVER see the light of day here. There’s hope for our great state and it will resume again in November once this impotent fool is gone. On Wisconsin.

  • The left dreams of controlling the general public that they “care about”. They want everyone locked down so they can go about their lives and enjoy life.

  • Anyone who is hypnotized by the Mass Formation Psychosis is free to put on a mask, give up their job, and lock themselves in a room of their house. It may put the anxiety to sleep for a little while. Like any drug to numb the pain in the end they will be chasing the dragon.

It would be so nice if Tony Evers would take his own advice and lock himself down. He looks so much like Fauci with the face diaper on.
