MADISON — Leave it to Gov. Tony Evers, who plunged Wisconsin into economic chaos, to insist a Wisconsin Supreme Court ruling striking down his statewide lockdown will unleash chaos.
The Democrat jumped on lib-friendly MSNBC to tell its hate-consumed viewers that the court’s conservative majority’s decision “wasn’t based on statute, precedents or the facts.”
Notice he didn’t mention the constitution, which clearly frowns on total power in the hands of one branch of government used to shred the civil liberties of citizens.
“In one fell swoop, four judges who didn’t really care about what the statutes talk about have thrown our state into chaos,” Evers said.
Putting aside the partisan’s ignorant talking-points characterization of the decision, Evers’ accusation is trampled under his choice of words.
Ask the half-million people forced out of work because of the governor’s abusive stay-at-home order about chaos. Ask the businesses filing for bankruptcy or on the brink of collapse what chaos is. How about the people who have lived in pain or worry because the governor’s lockdown has taken away their right to see a doctor or a dentist? The parishioners not allowed to pray in their places of worship with more than nine people, or the mourners who couldn’t grieve a loved one’s loss at a funeral because of the same social-distancing restrictions? They’ll tell you what chaos is.
Evers likes to tell us he’s doing it all because he wants to protect us from the pandemic. But you can’t bubble wrap the state, and you can’t keep Wisconsin closed without doing even more irreparable harm than the disease.
Evers said the ruling will turn Wisconsin into the “Wild West.” His leadership — or lack thereof — is turning the Badger State into a zombie apocalypse, a once prosperous people wandering through a desolate economic wasteland, waiting with fleeting hope for their liberty and lives to be restored.
