Gov. Tony Evers took perhaps the toughest stance of his administration last week at Rib Mountain’s Granite Peak Ski Resort.
“I certainly support the tourism industry in the state of Wisconsin and especially here at Granite Peak,” the Democrat said Thursday.
Evers joined Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services Secretary-Designee Dawn Crim at the popular tourist spot to show off the agency’s ski lift safety inspections. ‘Cause nothing says ‘shred the gnar’ like an old guy talking about safety guidelines for ski lifts.
The governor informally launched the opening of the ski season. Wisconsin Department of Tourism Secretary-Designee Sara Meaney also was alongside to promote Wisconsin’s estimated $17.9 billion outdoor recreation industry.
A good part of that impact comes from Wisconsin’s many ski resorts where ski bums can catch some sick air.
Or as safety first Evers puts it, where his administration can demonstrate the state’s collaborative approach in the promotion of safe and fun recreational opportunities.
