MADISON — While Gov. Tony Evers may wish you “Happy Holidays” under the “Science-themed” Holiday Tree, a new poll finds more than two-thirds of Americans prefer a “Merry Christmas” season’s greeting.
The Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds 67 percent of American adults questioned would prefer stores to show signs saying “Merry Christmas” over “Happy Holidays.” Just 22 percent like the latter. The remaining 11 percent aren’t committed to either.
And Jesus gave Santa a beating. The poll found 68 percent surveyed believe Christmas should be more about Jesus Christ than Santa Claus. Just 16 percent put the emphasis on the jolly old elf, while 15 percent are undecided.
