PowerUp: Sen. Johnson on border wall

As President Joe Biden creates the worst humanitarian crisis of our times at the U.S. border with Mexico, his allies in congress have rejected U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson’s amendment calling for the completion of the approximately 250 miles of unfinished border wall.

That final stretch is already paid for.

“We’ve bought and paid for, to the tune of about $2 billion worth of the wall. We’ve got tens of thousands of tons of steel that has already been manufactured that will have to be scrapped,” the Oshkosh Republican told Empower Wisconsin’s M.D. Kittle last week on the Jay Weber Show.

“Securing the border used to be a bi-partisan goal,” Johnson said, noting that then-Sens. Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden voted for the 2006 Secure Fence Act aimed at erecting 700 miles of double-layered fencing at the border.

Johnson also discussed the rash of anti-semitic violence following the latest conflict between Israel and terrorist group Hamas, and the confirmation of former Evers’ health chief Andrea Palm as Biden’s No. 2 at the Department of Health and Human Services. The senator says “liberal, progressive, socialist, marxist” Palm “fits in perfectly with the Biden administration.”

Sen. Ron Johnson is our guest today on PowerUp, Empower Wisconsin’s podcast.
