MADISON — It was supposed to be a fun day. The day quickly turned into a nightmare.
Leanne Hollingsworth’s young daughter, Kenzie was doing what she loved, performing with her dance team in Waukesha’s annual Christmas parade. Suddenly, a madman driving a red SUV turned into the parade route and mowed down scores of innocent human beings like so many blades of grass. Among the victims were several children, including Kenzie.
“What we saw was things that no one should ever see in their lives, or experience in their lives,” Leanne told Empower Wisconsin’s M.D. Kittle last week on the Dan O’Donnell Show. “It was ugly. There’s no other way to describe it.”
Kenzie was critically injured. The fourth-grader suffered a badly broken leg and significant head and brain injuries.
As horrifying as it was watching her daughter fight for her life on a ventilator in a hospital bed, Leanne’s shock and anger was compounded in the knowledge that Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm’s office helped set free the career violent criminal suspected of killing and hurting nearly 70 people on just $1,000 bail just days before the massacre.
Leanne wants justice, she wants accountability. She wants Gov. Tony Evers to remove Chisholm from office. She doesn’t want to see one more victim of Chisholm’s brand of “progressive” criminal justice.
Evers, a proponent of liberal policies that would cut in half the state’s prison population, has yet to act.
Leanne Hollingsworth is our guest on this edition of PowerUp, Empower Wisconsin’s podcast.
