MADISON — Last week Vice President Kamala Harris said the Biden administration would stand behind state attorneys general like Wisconsin AG Josh Kaul who eschew the law and their oaths of office in the name of progressive values.
Addressing the Democratic Attorneys General Association in Milwaukee, Harris praised Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul and his colleagues for their pledges to defy abortion bans in the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling overturning the constitutionally flawed Roe v. Wade. Liberal Kaul has said he will not uphold a Wisconsin law prohibiting abortions and has advised local district attorneys to do the same.
“Josh, our administration has your back,” Harris said, to applause from the Democrats.
Fond du Lac District Attorney Eric Toney, Republican candidate for attorney general, says he’s not surprised the lawless administration will support Kaul’s lawlessness.
“Just about everywhere I go I’ll ask, ‘Who thinks we only enforce the rule of law when we agree?’ Literally nobody raises their hand. I usually make the joke that if Josh Kaul were here his hand might be in the air because that’s what we see from him — picking and choosing when to enforce the rule of law,” Toney told Empower Wisconsin’s M.D. Kittle last week on the Vicki McKenna Show.
“We see it with the Biden administration where we see how our immigration/border laws are not bing enforced and we see how that crisis is now in our streets with record fentanyl deaths. So, I’m not surprised the the vice president of the United States is praising our attorney general for his refusal to enforce the rule of law.”
Eric Toney is our guest on today’s edition of PowerUp, Empower Wisconsin’s podcast.
