MADISON, Wis. — State Sen. Roger Roth cruised to victory in an eight-way Republican primary for Lt. Gov. Now the Appleton Republican is campaigning alongside GOP gubernatorial candidate Tim Michels in a bid to send Gov. Tony Evers and his far left agenda packing.
With less than two months before Election Day, Roth says the “Wisconsin comeback” is on — and Republicans are unified.
“This message is resonating in Wisconsin,” he told M.D. Kittle on Friday’s Vicki McKenna Show.
The most recent Marquette University Law School Poll, conducted just days after last month’s partisan primaries, found a statistical dead heat race, with Evers leading Michels by 2 percentage points (well within the poll’s margin of error). Marquette is slated to release a new poll on Wednesday.
Roth said Evers’ campaign plan to dump another $2 billion on Wisconsin’s public education system comes as no surprise from a tax-and-spend liberal who spent decades as an educrat.
“We’ve got to move opposite of what Tony Evers is trying to do here. We’ve got to stop funding failed government, we’ve got to start funding students directly,” he said. In short, funding should follow students, not schools.
