Madison — The 2020 presidential election strained the trust of voters.

One-third of all American voters — 64 percent of Republicans — do not believe the election results were fair, according to a nationwide survey by researchers from Rutgers University–New Brunswick, Northeastern, Harvard and Northwestern universities. 

State Rep. Joe Sanfelippo (R-New Berlin) says he’s hopeful the Assembly Committee on Campaigns and Elections will do all in its power to hold election lawbreakers accountable. Sanfelippo, vice chairman of the committee, said election reform will be a top priority for Republican lawmakers as the new session begins early next month. Gov. Tony Evers has vowed to veto Republican reforms. 

“The most important thing we can do is every single person who has been found to have broken the law, whether they’re a Democrat, Republican, Independent, they have to be held accountable,” the lawmaker told Empower Wisconsin’s M.D. Kittle Monday on the Jay Weber Show, on NewsTalk 1130 WISN.
