PowerUp Podcast: U.S. Rep Tom Tiffany on Afghanistan fiasco

There are a lot of words being used to describe the situation on the ground in Afghanistan. It seems “hell” comes as close to the mark as anything.

U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany R-Minocqua) calls the mess that the Biden administration has made “a debacle of epic proportions.” He said there is no hyperbole in the descriptors.

Unbelievably, things stand to get worse. President Joe Biden has given U.S. forces just five days to get out of Afghanistan, a stubborn deadline that could prove a death sentence for U.S. allies left behind. It appears Biden is bowing to the demands of the ruthless Taliban.

“It is incredibly disappointing to see the commander-in-chief allow the Taliban set a deadline, a line in the sand for America of Aug. 31. I never thought I’d see that day but here it is,” Tiffany told Empower Wisconsin’s M.D. Kittle Wednesday on the Jay Weber Show on NewsTalk 1130 WISN.

The congressman’s office is working on behalf of concerned constituents to help get friends and allies in Afghanistan out of the country. But Tiffany is urging the administration to ensure a thorough vetting of the thousands of Afghan refugees heading to the U.S., including Wisconsin’s Fort McCoy, to make sure “we’re not importing terrorists.”

Rep. Tom Tiffany is our guest on this edition of PowerUp, Empower Wisconsin’s podcast.
