MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers’ dysfunctional Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) hasn’t merely been slow in processing the licenses of untold professionals in Wisconsin. The agency has been slow in answering the Legislature’s questions about the state’s license crisis.
“They won’t answer questions, and when they do they provide us with only half of the answers,” state Rep. Shae Sortwell (R-Two Rivers) who has helped lead two committees investigating the mess at Evers’ DSPS, told Empower Wisconsin last week on the Vicki McKenna Show. “I don’t know if they’re incompetent or they’re purposely being obtuse in not sharing the information.”
As Empower Wisconsin reported last week, the agency’s bumbling is stalling private security employees from doing their jobs in the Milwaukee area, where rising crime is a significant concern and a majorissue in next month’s election.
Rep. Sortwell is our guest on today’s edition of PowerUp, Empower Wisconsin’s podcast.
