Remembering David Dorn

Empower Wisconsin | June 11, 2020

By M.D. Kittle

The radical, cop-hating left finds David Dorn an inconvenient truth, a black life that doesn’t matter much to the Black Lives Matter narrative.

But the retired St. Louis police captain’s life sure as hell mattered to the people who knew, loved and respected him.

Dorn, who spent nearly 40 years on the St. Louis Metropolitan Police force before serving as police chief for Moline Acres (a small city in St. Louis County), was gunned down by looters. He was responding to an alarm at Lee’s Pawn and Jewelry as “peaceful” protests against racism and police brutality devolved into rioting and looting.

While the Rev. Al Sharpton, prominent liberal politicians and much of the national media didn’t show up, hundreds turned out for the visitation of this dedicated police officer who lived to protect and serve.

Dorn was described as a “selfless, kind and humble” man by those who attended Tuesday’s visitation.

“David Dorn is my son’s father-in-law,” Emma Washington told KMOV-TV. “And I knew him for years and years. We were just like one family all together.”

“He is such a wonderful, caring person. He wanted to do anything for everybody,” Washington added. “If we needed anything done he would do it. He would come and help us.”

Four other officers were shot and more than 50 businesses burglarized or damaged in St. Louis the night Dorn was killed.

Sharpton and a band of opportunistic liberals, who have used the death of George Floyd at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer to serve their political aims, didn’t have much to say about Dorn or the other police officers wounded and killed while serving their communities during the riots.

We do.

Thank you, Chief Dorn.

1 thought on “Remembering David Dorn

  • All lives matter – Officer Dorn, George Floyd, Robert E. Lee, even Nancy Pelosi, et al – all deserve to be honored and mourned regardless of political agenda. Not a sparrow should fall without a tear be shed and respect given. When we disregard the dead, we dishonor the living.
