Former Reagan economist Dr. Arthur B. Laffer will be in Madison tonight, delving into the “Failure of Bidenomics: How Free-Market Policies Can Save America.”
Laffer, founder and chairman of economic research and consulting firm Laffer Associates, will discuss the current economic situation, how President Biden’s policies have led the U.S. astray, and how market-based reforms can lead the nation back to prosperity.
The event begins at 6 p.m., at the Wisconsin Historical Society, at 816 State St. It is presented by The Center for Research on the Wisconsin Economy (CROWE) with Wisconsin Young Americans for Freedom (YAF).
Seating is free, on a first-come/first-served basis.
Laffer, known as “The Father of Supply-Side Economics,” was a member of President Reagan’s Economic Policy Advisory Board for his two terms (1981-1989) and was a founding member of the Reagan Executive Advisory Committee for the presidential race of 1980. He also advised Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher on fiscal policy in the UK during the 1980s.
In 2019, Laffer was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Donald Trump.
He sits on the board of directors or advisors of a number of private and public companies and has authored numerous books including An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of States (Wiley 2014) and, most recently, Trumponomics: Inside the America First Plan to Revive Our Economy (All Points Books 2018).
