Scariest people this election cycle

Empower Wisconsin | Oct. 31, 2022

MADISON — Be prepared for a parade of ghosts, goblins, witches and things that go bump in the night.

But on this Halloween the most frightening ghouls you’ll encounter are the liberals running for office.

With just eight days before the midterms, we offer the scariest people of this election cycle.

Tony Evers — This ghoulish tax-and-spend governor has pushed an array of liberal policies that would suck the life out of Wisconsin’s economy. But it’s his bureaucratic incompetence that has killed. Evers’ dysfunctional state agencies have cost business, jobs, and lives. And his soft-on-crime initiatives and mission to halve the state’s prison population has set free hundreds of heinous murderers and rapists — some who have gone on to hurt again.

Mandela Barnes — The leftist lieutenant governor and would-be U.S. senator has, like his boss Evers, vilified law enforcement officers in the name of radical politics. Barnes has courted the defund the police movement and pitched a bill that would eliminate cash bail for violent offenders. And this scary socialist has preached thwarting American capitalism while praising the world’s tyrants.

Josh Kaul — A feckless sate attorney general who has consistently put liberal politics above the rule of law. Kaul waged a war on civil liberties for the benefit of his fellow authoritarian leftists, and he has bragged he will defy the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling putting laws on abortion back in the hands of the states. Meanwhile, Kaul’s frightening failure to lead has put children and public safety in peril.

Doug La Follette — Wisconsin’s fossil of a Secretary of State is like Michael Myers from the Halloween franchise; La Follette’s endless time in office just won’t die. He has served as secretary of state since Ronald Reagan’s first term, but had previously taken up space in the office in the mid-to-late 1970s. La Follette is Exhibit A for term limits to exorcise the demons of politicians clinging to whatever power they have — and that’s not much in the secretary of state’s case.

John Fetterman — The only thing scarier than the Pennsylvania Senate candidate’s debate performance last week is the fact that anyone actually believes he’s capable of handling the job. The hulking liberal is recovering from a stroke. That’s no laughing matter. But neither is the possibility that this clearly cognitively impaired politician could be representing the Keystone State — and the United States at large — in the U.S. Senate. His troubling debate performance aside, Fetterman’s far left record and his double-speak on a prisoner release fire sale and fracking should scare the hell out of any Pennsylvania voter.

Gretchen Whitmer — Wretched Gretchen Whitmer, Michigan’s witch of a governor, locked down her state with the kind of zeal exhibited by few other executive branch leaders. As a good liberal never letting a good crisis go to waste, Whitmer seized power in the pandemic with a bulldog grip and refused to let go. As a good liberal hypocrite, she has repeatedly been caught violating her administration’s orders. Her extreme climate change regime has contributed to soaring energy prices not only in her state, but for her neighbors and the entire country.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY)

AOC — U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a socialist nightmare. But have you seen her dance? AOC’s weird display before frustrated constituents at a recent town hall was stunningly adolescent, which should be her campaign slogan. More frightening still, the climate change cult leader has won her past two elections with more than 70 percent of the vote in New York’s 14th Congressional District.

There are other leftists running, too, who are all trick and no treat.
