  • ‘Great Schools’ isn’t all that hot as I checked it for my local area and it’s woefully out of date (listing schools that have been closed for fifteen years as being still in operation, out-of-date contact info, inaccurate number of students, etc.).

If that information is wrong, how can their ratings be trusted? I’m all for good information, but how can you depend on a site that’s this old?

  • I go between Arkansas and Wisconsin. Arkansas schools give parents more choice with no financial burden. My grandkids went to a charter school in Arkansas which gave them a classical education. Two years of Latin was required. They studied the classics in literature. They also studied great philosophers. All seniors have to write a senior thesis before they graduate. My granddaughter easily slid into college classes after graduation. No remedial math or English classes required at college. She was on dean’s list first two semesters taking academic solid classes. Parents what are you waiting for? Check Great Schools to see your public schools rating. In Stevens Point it’s mostly 4s and 5s out of 10. These ratings were pre pandemic. Mediocrity at its finest.
