Recently, Phoebe Petrovic from Wisconsin Watch penned an article that has been reposted in various places accusing me and the organization I work for, the Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty, of “fueling” “anti-LGBTQ rhetoric.” Petrovic does not point to any “anti-LGTBQ rhetoric” by my colleagues or me, but instead characterizes the transgender-related cases and legal issues we have been involved in recently as a “war on trans-inclusive policies.” Petrovic not only misses the true thread that connects these cases, she also disregards how we have discussed these issues in favor of her preferred narrative that WILL and groups like ours are “anti-trans” “hate groups.” The result, both sad and ironic, is that it is her article spreading an “anti-LGBTQ” message, not us.
