Tool of the Week: Dems and their four-day infomercial

Empower Wisconsin | Aug. 24, 2020

MADISON — It’s hard to think of a lamer major party convention than the virtual disaster the Democratic Party hosted last week — kind of in Milwaukee.

Even the 1839 Whig convention for William Henry Harrison and running mate John Tyler offered hard cider.

Don’t take our word for it. Viewers, according to the UK’s Daily Mail, slammed the bad Zoom meeting that was the Democratic National Convention as “boring” and “unwatchable.”

“The DNC right now is like a 3am infomercial but has less sex appeal,” one person tweeted Monday night.

Not even former First Lady Michelle Obama and her rose-colored revisionist history lesson could save the craptacular Democratic Party telethon/Silver alert for Dem presidential nominee and former VP Joe Biden.

As Empower Wisconsin reported, Gov. Tony Evers, the Badger State’s ambassador of phony colloquialisms (See: Holy mackerel, folks!”) didn’t do host state Wisconsin’s political reputation any favors.

Meanwhile, Dem Party patsy and hapless Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett played the blame game, insisting President Trump’s handling of the COVID-19 outbreak sabotaged Milwaukee’s convention dreams. His whining only underscored the smallness of the Trump-hating left.

When your biggest victory is that your candidate successfully (well, almost) read from a teleprompter, there usually isn’t much to hang your hat on. But we’re talking about Joe Biden, after all, the former vice president who recently said of Trump, “If he can’t figure out the difference between an elephant and a lion, I don’t know what the hell he’s talking about.”

Yes, this year’s DNC was a tool-worthy event filled with an array of tools.

And that’s why we’re presenting the people that put this sad infomercial together Empower Wisconsin’s coveted Tool of the Week award.
