Tool of the Week: ‘Long weekend’ Kamala Harris

More than 1.1 million.

That’s how many Americans have died in U.S.-involved wars since the founding of this nation.

Most Americans understand — at some level — that Memorial Day is to remember the people who, as Abraham Lincoln so eloquently put it in his Gettysburg Address, gave the last full measure of devotion to their country and its cause of liberty.

Sure, there are the cookouts and the trips back to the beach on this first unofficial weekend of the summer. But most know that there’s a “long weekend” because of the many Americans who sacrificed so much.

Not Vice President Kamala Harris, who has rightly been taken to task for her tone deaf tweet on the Saturday before Memorial Day telling her followers to “Enjoy the long weekend.”

The families of the fallen reminded the vice president why Memorial Day Weekend means so much more than a long weekend to them.

“Unbelievably disappointed that there is no mention as to why there is a ‘long weekend’. This is a picture of our son, PFC Paul Cuzzupe who can’t enjoy the weekend as he died defending our freedom.”

Heartbreaking.

“It’s just a ‘long weekend’ for this fraud. I have several dead buddies that disagree,” another tweet criticized.

Perhaps in her defense, Harris was referring to the ridiculously “long weekend” America is “enjoying” under the leadership of her boss, President Joe Biden. Maybe she was referring to the “Weekend at Bernie’s”-like governance going on as socialist string pullers prop up a confused and cognitively challenged old man.

If that’s the case, a lot of Americans will tell you this ‘long weekend’ can’t end soon enough.

Whether it was intentional liberal snark or just an obtuse message, Harris’ tweet is another example of why the vice president is such a tool.

So Empower Wisconsin, today, is memorializing Kamala Harris as our Tool of the Week.
