MADISON — In a disappointing election year for Republicans that expected a “red wave,” conservatives — and anyone just plain tired of “Madam Speaker” — picked up one huge win.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) lost her job as Speaker of the House, a post she had turned into a clown car again upon returning to the seat in 2019. Pelosi will be given the heave-ho by virtue of Republicans recapturing the House, by the narrowest of margins.
She had served as the first and only female speaker from 2007 to 2011. Who could forget her infamous rule, when she said of Obamacare, “We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it.”
Pelosi transformed the House of Representatives into a House of Cards, an impeachment chamber fueled by liberal rage. She was repeatedly run over by “the Squad” and the new era leftists, leading the Democratic Party further into the desert of Marxism. And she led President Joe Biden’s spending binge that has ballooned the nation’s debt and ignited soaring inflation not seen in 40 years.
And Pelosi, the embodiment of nasty politics, spewed the left’s venom while she bemoaned incivility in the political realm.
How awful is Pelosi? She’s earned the praises of U.S. Rep. Gwen Moore, the do-nothing Milwaukee liberal who has been one of the left’s most dutiful rubber stamps.
“She is a skilled legislator with a tireless work ethic and a legendary toughness who has left her indelible mark on the history of this country,” Moore said in a a statement last week.
Pelosi’s mark is more like a blotch. The San Francisco representative has done everything in her power to diminish the most exceptional nation in world history.
There have been 54 Speakers of the U.S. House of Representatives since the first Congress convened in 1789. The sad fact is Pelosi is one of them. The consolation is that she is soon to be a has been, unable to continue to do the kind of damage she’s done.
Pelosi remains a tool of the far left.
This week, Madam Speaker is Empower Wisconsin’s Tool of the Week.
