The same “news” network that described last year’s mob violence that gripped Kenosha as “fiery but mostly peaceful” protests was back last week with its painfully insipid coverage of Joe Biden’s fiasco in Afghanistan.
Clarissa Ward with CNN’s “New Day” reported on the collapse of Kabul, as the brutal Taliban swept through amid the president’s disordered withdrawal of U.S. forces.
“As soon as we leave our compound, it’s clear who is now in charge,” Ward said. “Taliban fighters have flooded the capital. Smiling and victorious, they took this city of 6 million people in a matter of hours — barely firing a shot. This is a sight I honestly thought I would never see: scores of Taliban fighters, and just behind us, the U.S. embassy compound. Some carry American weapons. They tell us they’re here to maintain law and order.”
Nothing to worry about, a Taliban commander assured Ward. “Everything is under control” and “will be fine,” he told the reporter.
They’re chanting “‘Death to America,’ but they seem friendly at the same time,” the reporter told CNN viewers, who for the untold time wondered how the banal network remains on the air.
It was all too reminiscent of Aug. 26, 2020, when a CNN video caption read, “Fiery But Mostly Peaceful Protests After Police Shooting” as national correspondent Omar Jimenez stood in front of a Kenosha building engulfed in flames.
CNN wasn’t alone. Many of its corporate media useful idiot brethren vainly tried to frame the Black Lives Matter-led chaos in the streets last year as “mostly peaceful.”
But CNN is deservedly Empower Wisconsin’s Tool of the Week.
