Tool of the Week: Big lib Mark Pocan

Empower Wisconsin | Dec. 6  2019

MADISON — There are so many tools involved in the House impeachment farce, so many are deserving of our Tool of the Week award.

But let’s stay local with this dubious honor and present to you, U.S. Rep. Mark Pocan.

The Madison leftist echoed the sentiments of his master, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, when he insisted last week that the U.S. House must impeach President Donald Trump — even if members have to pay politically.

“(W)e have to do this. Whether it has electoral pluses or minuses has to be a secondary thought,” Pocan told reporters.

That has to rank as one of the more disingenuous pronouncements the liberal blowhard has uttered in his disingenuous political career.

The four-term congressman is the beneficiary of arguably one of the safest seats in the House. Pocan’s 2nd Congressional District includes Madison, one of the most left-wing, Trump-hating cities on the face of the earth. In 2016, Trump received a mere 23 percent of the votes in liberal Dane County, a big part of the 2nd district.

And Pocan is out there giving his “damn the political consequences speech.” What a phony. How do you think his fellow Democrats in Trump-supporting districts — where a majority of voters can see through the partisan impeachment play — feel about Pocan’s Braveheart pep talk?

Let’s see how they vote when the question is raised, let’s see if they shrug off the “political minuses” then. Chances are they like their high-paying jobs too much, just like Pocan does. Except, he doesn’t have to worry about the minuses.

The voters in Madison, where the vast majority of 2nd District votes come from, would elect a garden rake if they thought it was the most liberal candidate. Some would tell you that Madison has elected a tool in the last four elections.

We would tell you the same. And that tool is Mark Pocan, Empower Wisconsin’s Tool of the Week.
