Tool of the Week: Teachers union tool Lee Snodgrass

MADISON — Liberal elitist state Rep. Lee Snodgrass was widely criticized last week for her tone deaf tweet attacking parents. But her pals in the state’s teachers union must have been particularly proud of their investment.

The Appleton Democrat tweeted, “If parents want to ‘have a say’ in their child’s education, they should home school or pay for private school tuition out of their family budget.

She quickly deleted the snide tweet, because someone with more common sense must have reminded Snodgrass that Democrats don’t do well when they attack parents standing up for their kids. And perhaps she figured out that these same parents are picking up the tab for public schools.

But in a follow-up tweet explaining why she deleted the first, Snodgrass doubled down on her defense of public schools.

“To clarify, My point is we should be fully funding our public schools and that diverting funds away from our public schools only makes it harder for parents to have the relationships we deserve with our kids’ teachers and their schools,” she wrote.

“Diverting,” is taxpayer money following the student, not the school system, something Snodgrass’ overlords at the Wisconsin Education Association Council cannot tolerate. Most Democrats, backed by WEAC, have been trying to kill parental school choice since Republican Gov. Tommy Thompson piloted the successful education alternative 30 years ago.

They’ve been rewarded handsomely for their efforts.

In Snodgrass’ case, WEAC has donated a combined $7,500 to her campaigns for state Senate in 2018 and state Assembly in 2020.

Her “misinterpreted tweet” wasn’t the first time the liberal lawmaker attacked parents for raising questions about their children’s education. It’s not the first time she’s insulted parents who choose homeschooling or other parental choice options.

Snodgrass is another tool for the teachers union.

This week, she is Empower Wisconsin’s Tool of the Week.

It sounds like Snodgrass thinks parents and taxpayers should have no say at all – that’s Communism speaking.
