Tool of the Week: The cavers to the mob

We learned a sad fact last week: Conservative, rational Waukesha can be ruled by a radical leftist mob.

We re-learned that the usual suspects in the mainstream media are more than glad to aid and abet the mob.

The Waukesha School Board rescinded a previous vote that had ended a federally-funded program providing free meals to even the wealthiest in the district.

Five board members reversed themselves from a unanimous vote earlier this summer in which all agreed that asking taxpayers to pay for the breakfasts, lunches and snacks for kids whose families’ incomes are well above the federal poverty line is not a good idea.

They caved after a barrage of misinformation, harassment, and intimidation, ignited in large part by irresponsible news outlets like The Washington Post. Children will go hungry, they falsely declared. They misquoted a school board member to the point of journalistic malpractice, falsely accusing her of saying children would “become spoiled” under the free meal program (It’s clear that the Post reporter didn’t bother to check the video footage of the meeting).

The reporting stoked an unhinged left, which reacted the way the unhinged left does.

One board member was told they were going to get a gun to their head. Every board member received vile emails and phone messages, many from people not even in their district.

Police reportedly patrolled the neighborhoods of district officials out of concern for violence.

Fear is a great motivator, particularly in these fearful days. But fear isn’t fact.

Four board members held their ground, including Anthony Zenobia.

“I was astounded at how weak our leadership was last (Monday) night. Frankly, I’m embarrassed about it,”  Zenobia told Empower Wisconsin.

The board members and administrators kowtowed by those who still don’t understand there’s no such thing as a “free lunch” just got tooled.

They are collectively Empower Wisconsin’s Tool of the Week.
