Tool of the Week: The left’s PR firm

Empower Wisconsin | May 18, 2020

MADISON — The mainstream media, long the tool of the left, has shown once again why so many conservatives call it the public-relations partner of the Democratic Party.

Last week, the major networks and Trump-hating CNN and MSNBC ignored or downplayed one of the biggest stories of the week: A declassified list of Obama Deep Staters who sought the unmasking of former national security advisor Michael Flynn.

U.S. Senate Homeland Security Chairman Ron Johnson (R-Oshkosh) and Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) released the declassified list, which included Obama’s Vice President and the Democrat’s presumptive presidential candidate, Joe Biden, disgraced former FBI Director James Comey, then-CIA Director John Brennan, and Obama National Intelligence Director James Clapper.

As Biden was fond of saying, this is a big f-ing deal.

But not to broadcast networks ABC and NBC. Their nightly newscasts pretended the story didn’t exist on the day the list was released. CBS made little more than passing reference.

The New York Times did not report on the unmasking until several hours after the documents dropped. The Washington Post, according to Fox News, didn’t run a fresh story. Instead, it updated an earlier story about how President Trump and Biden have been “seeking” to make President Obama “central to their campaigns.”

Fox News, which did cover the list’s release, noted that CNN wouldn’t touch the story. When it finally did, the left-wing cable propaganda network did everything it could to try to diminish the release, calling it the Republicans’ “latest effort to undermine” the Russia probe.

Undermine the Russia probe? The probe was undermined a long time ago by the abusive special prosecutor and the politically biased federal law enforcement agents who launched it and carried it out. These are the same people who destroyed Flynn’s life (among others), threatening his family and destroying his reputation in the pursuit of taking down a duly elected president they and their liberal political allies intensely hate. And the “legacy” press was their biggest cheerleader.

Astonishingly, the New York Times and the Washington Post won Pulitzer Prizes for their coverage of the Russian investigation.

Fox News noted CNN’s “slow-footed coverage is a stark contrast to its relentless pursuit of the story before Special Counsel Robert Mueller put the collusion theory to bed in April 2019.”

CNN devoted more than a quarter of its total news coverage to the phony Trump-Russia collusion theory from Election Day 2016 to April 19, 2019, according to the Columbia Journalism Review.

The mainstream media proves once more that it has given up any pretense of objectivity, that it’s a propaganda tool for the left.

Today, it’s Empower Wisconsin’s Tool of the Week.
