MADISON — Oh, my. We’ve got a tie for Tool of the Week.
And the winners are … the obtuse and privileged Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes and his hypocrite Dem friends in congress.
As Empower Wisconsin reported last week, Barnes tweeted that the people who disagree with his boss’s state-wide lockdown have mistaken inconvenience for oppression.
The lieutenant governor, who had to be chauffeured around the state at taxpayer expense because he wouldn’t pay his traffic tickets, thinks the hundreds of thousands of people who have lost their jobs and the many businesses on the brink of extinction are just showing their privilege.
“People mistake inconvenience for oppression, and what it does is minimize the real pain and historical drama that actually oppressed communities deal with,” Barnes tweeted. “That’s what we call privilege.”
Barnes’ tone deaf sentiments at a time of great economic suffering is what we call the musings of a tool. Of course, Barnes, too, could very well face unemployment — in 911 days, but who’s counting?
The lieutenant governor has company this week in Tool Town.
As Empower Wisconsin reported, Biden’s liberal backers, the ones who have traded #BelieveWomen for #BelieveBiden, continue to stand by their man. Their entrenchment comes even as more public officials call for an investigation into allegations that the former vice president and Democrat Party presumptive presidential candidate sexually assaulted aide Tara Reade in the early 1990s when Biden was a U.S. senator from Delaware.
You’ll recall how Biden’s fellow Democrats rallied around Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh accuser Christine Blasey Ford, while they sought anything but due process for Kavanaugh during his brutal Senate confirmation hearings.
Wisconsin’s liberal congressional delegation bears the same H (hypocrisy) scarlet letter.
“I’ll continue to stand with Dr. Ford and all women who have the bravery to speak out and take a stand against sexual assault,” tweeted Rep. Mark Pocan (D-Madison). Apparently the pile of steaming hypocrisy is willing to stand with “all women — except women who accuse Dem presidential candidates of sexual assault.
Pocan’s was one of many tweets from Wisconsin congressional liberals.
These days, it seems the Wisconsin Dems so eager to believe are incredulous that anyone would even ask a question about sexual misconduct allegations against a handsy old man notorious for creepy behavior.
That’s the mark of a hypocrite. It’s also the mark of a tool. For that reason, Pocan and his pals collectively take home the prize as Empower Wisconsin’s Tool of the Week.
